Bondarzewia podocarpi, a new and remarkable polypore from tropical China.
Bondarzewia podocarpi is described as new and is distinguished from other species in the genus by regular pores, presence of cystidioles, thin generative hyphae and short basidia. It was found in tropical China and grows on living trees of Podocarpus. Parsimony analyses were applied to an ITS dataset. The results suggest that Bondarzewia is monophyletic with two well supported internal clades. ...
متن کاملBioactive Compounds from a Polypore Fungus Ganoderma
Bioactive chemical compounds G1 and G2 were isolated, purified and identified from fruit bodies of the wood-rot polypore fungus Ganoderma applanatum collected from Tamarix aphylla trees in southern Iraq. The identification of these two compounds by using GC-Mass and HNMR was confirmed. Solubility of both compounds in different solvents was tested and the toxicity of these two compounds against ...
متن کاملPlant food and incense: the new substances of abuse.
Introduction The Internet provides a means of reaching and providing information to a wide population. The authors have noted the availability of substances of abuse packaged conveniently as products for other purposes such as ‘plant foods’, ‘incense’ and ‘bath salts’ which are consumed by abusers for the “highs” they provide.1 Novel synthetic designer drugs that act as stimulants such as gamma...
متن کاملThe polypore mushroom Irpex lacteus, a new causative agent of fungal infections.
Irpex lacteus, a wood-decaying basidiomycete, was isolated from a pulmonary abscess of an immunosuppressed child. This medical strain was compared morphologically and by sequencing of the ribosomal intergenic spacers with specimens from both culture collections and herbarium desiccated material. The patient was treated successfully with amphotericin B.
متن کاملBiologically active compounds from Aphyllophorales (polypore) fungi.
This review describes biologically active natural products isolated from Aphyllophorales, many of which are known as polypores. Polypores are a large group of terrestrial fungi of the phylum Basdiomycota (basidiomycetes), and they along with certain Ascomycota are a major source of pharmacologically active substances. There are about 25 000 species of basidiomycetes, of which about 500 are memb...
